Tivoli

by in Denmark, Europe

We were walking towards Tivoli; the oldest and possibly greatest amusement park. The main reason we came to Denmark was to go to Tivoli. Carter and I were franticly looking around for it. The huge sign saying “TIVOLI” and the golden gate really gave it away. It was Friday in the early afternoon; everyone who lived in Copenhagen would be at Tivoli in an hour. We went to work. Carter found the shortest line and we soon got our wristbands. Blue for limited rides, green for unlimited rides, and gold for something really awesome but the wristband lady never told us exactly what it did. We soon each had on a green wristband, and heading towards our first ride. When we got into line I was scared. I could hear people screaming. And nothing makes me more scared than hearing other people scream. I got in the back of the log/cart and shut my eyes. But the ride was not at all scary. There were a bunch of happy trolls working and brushing the teeth of a giant dragon. Towards the end of the ride it got really dark then the dragon moved and speakers made the sound of sneezing. Then something squirted us with water. At the very end of the ride we were about to go through a giant water fall but it shut off just before we went through. When we got out I realized that the screaming was from the roller-coaster next to us. We went on that next. That was when I did scream. The roller coaster went down huge steep tunnels as strobe lights flashed and cameras took pictures so you could see your face on camera when the ride was over. At the end it went pitch black and I thought we would go down a tunnel in the dark but luckily we didn’t. I loved it! We continued to go on most of the rides until we walked down the churro street. The sweet deep fried dough called to our noses and taste-buds. They were in long tubes. The lady asked us what we wanted on them. We told her to put sugar and liquid chocolate. Well that was a great choice. They melted in our mouths as our teeth broke through the crispy fried dough and into the warm mushy dough. The chocolate and sugar added a great flavor. We watched a show about…well; actually I don’t know what it was about. There were no words, just dancing. While Carter and Dad went on a scary high ride, Mom and I had a nice time riding on a Viking ship voyage on a circular mountain with a pirate ship blowing cannons at you. Then we got a huge stick of cotton candy. Twice the size of my head huge. We had a nice dinner at a fish place followed by some more rides. After a while of searching we finally found the fun house - slides, lights, twisty circular floors, platforms, twirly tubes, rope bridges, everything you can imagine for a kid to have fun. My mom really liked the twirly platforms but Carter and I kept going on the revolving cylinders. My favorite was still the roller coaster though. Carter and mom liked the troll ride, and dad liked them both so we split up. Dad and I went on the roller coaster and Carter and mom went on the troll ride. I only screamed twice this time. But I didn’t scream on the drop with the camera so at the end when we saw the picture dad was screaming his head off and I was just smiling. And I kept smiling the whole walk home.
